But within the regular search engine database... it may take anywhere between a few hours to six months..
That is going todepend on a lot of things.
Basically speaking its not Google's job to put your blog in the search engines - it's YOUR job!
Now there is a current "buzz" going around about how some people have managed to get their site on the search engines in 4 days but that info is fairly new and I'm still going over it.
Now you can manually submit your blog to the search engines as most of them have a link to where you can add your site manually. But I have to tell you that it may take them as much as a couple of months - sometimes longer - to manually "get" to your blog to add it to the search engines.
Now if you are willing to do some work then you can work on getting your blog on the search engines. You have to decide what keywords you want associated with your site/blog. The next thing you do is see where your site ranks in the search engines when these keywords are used. If you don't like where your site ranks (or it doesn't appear in the search results at all) then you work on incorporating those search terms into your blog.
For instance my blog is called "The Adsense Consultant". Now my blog's url shows up on page one of both google and yahoo when the terms "adsenses consultant" and "adsense consulting" are typed into the search engine box. And those are EXACTLY the two terms that I want associated with my blog. Now I believe I achieved those page one results strictly by working on the content of my blog - and that is exactly what YOU have to do to get your site on the search engines and have it ranked high on the search engines.
