Can anybody help me?
Thanks alots!
There is a sitewide problem involving flash-based objects in the blog (i.e. videos, photo slideshows, music players, and various other widgets) that started at the end of September 2008. Re-installing the Flash player plug-in, using different browsers, or re-embedding the object has no effect. Yahoo has stopped fixing bugs in Yahoo! 360 starting in October 2007, so increased problems are the result. You can read more details of my initial conclusions at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1202 .
Unless a user creates a workaround for the issue (like in the case of YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo! Video and some widgets from MyYearbook), then you can't post a widget in a Yahoo! 360 blog entry. A blog entry is the only location that a music player or embedded video can be placed. So far, there is no solution for embedded music players or photo slideshows in new blog entries, but for some older entries, you can click on the "Comment" link below the entry to see some embedded objects.
Your remaining options for music and video in a 360 space are as follows:
- You can provide a link to the song page or music video page via your blast or blog (or any other area that allows a URL).
- You can also provide a link to an MP3 file via your blast to get a play button there. See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=916 and http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=548 for details on that feature.
- As mentioned above, you can embed a YouTube, Google video, or Yahoo! Video in a blog entry after converting the code. Here are the options, thanks to three 360 members:
1) A simple deletion of parts of the YouTube video embed code works. See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1385 for details.
2) See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1255 and http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1270 for details on how to convert code for YouTube and Google videos using MY360MI conversion tools. They recently added a tool for Yahoo! Video as well.
3) Another option is to create an account on myYearbook.com (http://myYearbook.com ), go to the video section of the site (also located in the bottom center of your profile page), search for the video (or upload the code for one), and use the converted embed code from that site in the "View HTML Source" version of your 360 blog entry. See http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1358 for details.
NOTE: The Y!360 team is no longer addressing bug reports, as it prepares to launch an universal profile system (UPS) in the 2nd half of 2008. This transition was announced in October 2007 and the UPS actually started in a rudimentary beta form on October 16, 2008. The Y!360 part of the system hasn't been transferred over fully yet.
- See blogs at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 for more details. The 360 team blog is also accessible via the "Yahoo! 360 News" link in the upper right corner of your 360 space. You can post complaints on their blog, but don't expect a personal response.
