I would like to start a video blog, but I don't know much about it. I would like to be able to create short videos and use some kind of service that sends an email to my mailing list telling recipients that a new video has been posted on my blog. Can someone tell me the easiest way to get started... and the easiest service(s) and editing software to use to achieve this goal? Recommendations on camera and microphone would be helpful. Also, if you know how to apply a white background to block out the original background, I would appreciate this info as well.

YOUTUBE! It's pretty fun to watch other videos. Easy and free too.
I'm sure there's a lot of fancy software out there, but from what little I've done, I like just using a web cam and recording on the windows media player. People can then download it. That's just a thought, and I don't know if it would work on a blog but it probably would.
On second thought, the U-tube does look interesting.
