How long does it take for a blog to become popular?

I know there are no hard-and-fast rules, but, generally speaking, how long does it take before a blog on a specific topic gains a regular audience?

Basically it ALL depends on the subject of your blog.

Here is a perfect example:

A friend of mine who is a lawyer is also a BEER buff, that means he enjoys finding different beers from Belgium and even Africa and the rest of the world.

So he started a beer blog of which there are hundreds. But his was so interesting that he became the world's BEST BLOG on that subject.

So your blog has to dazzle people and be on a subject of which there are many of the same followers.

It depends on the niche you are choosing as well as the promotion techniques you are using. Do SEO (search engine optimization) for your blog. SEO is marketing through an understanding of how search algorithms work combined with a knowledge of what human users might search for.Post your blog URL in Social bookmarking websites as well as blog directories. The traffic will start coming , you need to update content daily so that you get retaining visitors. If you are creating a personal blog you can update the blog daily with at least one post on any topic.

Mainly it depends on how much you promote it or market it and get it out there. Some subjects and content will be more popular than others of course but just like a website or a business you need to let people find you easily.

You do this through search engine optimization, continual posts with good and unique content (this will keep your readers coming back the most), listing your blog in various directories, getting sites to link to yours, and pay per click advertising to name a few.

It all depends on the article and what you are writing about. Even if you write the best article ever it may only receive a few hits, whereas some junk article with the right keywords could receive thousands of hits.

Blogging is an art and you should really write about what you love and know best.

Depends who writes it. A Miley Cyrus blog would get 1,000 views in a single hour while a blog by for ex- President Bush would be unlikely to get 1,000 views in a whole day

I depends on your audience, and how well you can write. I'd say about a year.
