How do I add html code to my wordpress blog?

Wordpress says that any code that isn't permitted will not be shown via the text widget but how am I supposed to put ads or widgets on my blog if

I can't put the code for the ads/widget on my blog. Do you know a special code that I can out in the text box with my widget/ad code to make it show up on my blog? Please help!

Have you tried doing it? I says that any code "that isn't permitted", that doesn't necessarily mean no code at all. I've been able to add HTML to the text widget just fine.

See the code you are using to put in text box contains JavaScript or any other script ( 99% chance ), which you can't put on *.wordpress.com.

If you want to put such code or show ad on your blog you will have to go for self hosted wordpress blog.
