How can one earn from blogging? How do I start my own blog?

Please excuse my ignorance but I have no idea about this really. Though lots of people in different forums promote their blog to earn I still can't figure out how this will provide one an earning. Thanks for the response in advance.

If the blog site you have chosen allows Google Adsense-- I think blogger.com is a good site to start with-- you can put your publisher-id in your blog account so folks can click on the ads and you will earn money.

Honestly making money will not happen overnight as it takes time, dedication, building a audience and promoting the blog. Blog directories, search engines, pinging, tagging and exchanging links with other similar blogs definitely helps. Remember, traffic (the audience) plus popularity equals good money.

Also pick a subject that you are very interested in-- an example can be writing about celebrity gossip, world affairs, religion, love relationships, etc. Most important is to make sure that your content is always fun and interesting to read so your readers consistently visit your site. The blog must look good too. Examples can be a nice looking layout and graphic header which certainly attract visitors.
